Little League sign-ups are tonight from 6pm - 8pm

Just a reminder Little League sign-ups are tonight from 6pm - 8pm at the Elgin Little League Board Room, located above the concession stand at the Little League complex.

Fall Ball is a great opportunity for children who are new to the game & want to try it out for the 1st time as well as the experienced players trying to hone their skills. The League encourages their coaches & managers to keep a "laid back" attitude & stress the instructional side of baseball/softball.

The League will be holding registration for children ages 4-12.

Divisions include:
tee ball (ages 4-6),
coach pitch softball (girls ages 7 and 8),
machine pitch baseball (boys ages 7 and 8),
Minor baseball and softball (ages 9 and 10)
and Major baseball and softball (ages 11 and 12).

The cost to register is $50 per child. Elgin Little League will also be taking applications for coaches and managers for the fall season at this time.

The final registration date will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Elgin Little League is also seeking new board members for the upcoming 2008 season to assist in administering and maintaining the League.

Elgin Community Network Starts

With resources from TAN and EISD, the two plan to share resources and work together in reducing RF noice and assistin providing a possible node for the mobilemesh clients in and arounf the area. The service now would extend onto 290 allowing mobile clients wireless and possible VOIP services while line of site is achieved.

Current picked name was the Elgin Comminuty Network (ECN).

The groups goals at this time is to start the development and reuse any gear left from Wifi build outs and reuse product and donate hardware/labor to the project. The gear hardware switches and labor had really made a very nice service area with next to the highway where laptops can surf the network now for only $29.95 per month, where network is expanded.

Portion of the proceeds go back into the hardware to continue to the build. The tower asset is temporary and is a great help to the company, residents and businesses in Elgin. Thanks EISD for saving the day !!

Voip technology sharing & QOS is our next phases. We want to work on the QOS portion of wireless with wifi/mesh and work on wifi based phones using an asterisk PBX making local and international call at a fraction if thier current development cost. We will add in interchange via fiber and work with EISD to develope the cities first community based network.

Wireless Services - Water tower work pushes forward!

Wireless Services - Water tower work pushes forward!

Elgin Wireless Network ( partial) Disruption

In lue of progress we are moving wireless services
today ( mid day) from WT1 to TW3. The old tower is
getting a much needed face lift. After the work is
completed the gear will be restored to its original
placement.

We will be removing and placing equipment where needed
to restore wireless services off both towers. All of
the downtown network is in full operational , and our
mobile mesh is also functioning.

It is recommended that you use your free dialup backup
while the upgrades and moves are under way to continue
access to the internet if your wireless is ever disrupted.

We apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused
especially on such short notice. If you have a wireless
laptop Memorial park on Depot has lots of shade, and
free wifi and Book World has free wifi as well!

Warm regards,
